After high school, Coach Alfieri signed with Broward Community College to continue is baseball career. After the 2005 season, he transferred to Garrett College where he played for two years under Coach Eric Hallenbeck, and Coach John Helmick. Reed holds Garrett College’s appearance record, and compiled great statistics, with a 2 year ERA of 3.02 on the mound. Coach Alfieri helped his team match one of the school’s best records, and was named to the 2007 JUCO All- Star Team.
After Garrett College, Reed signed with Webber International University in Babson Park, Florida. After only spending one year at Webber, Reed left his junior season and signed a professional contract with the Big Bend Cowboys. The Cowboys played in the Continental League where he helped his team win the league championship in 2010. Coach Alfieri ended the season as a Continental League All- Star, and led the league in ERA with a 1.90 in 30 innings of work. In 2011, he signed with the Alpine Cowboys of the Pecos league, and was named to the All- Star team. This past summer, Coach Alfieri was the Assistant Coach/ Pitching Coach for the O.A.GW.U.W (Only A game When U Watch) 18U select team, under Head Coach Trevor Chang-Leung.
“I’ve always wanted to coach, and give back the knowledge that I’ve learned over my career. What better place to start, than at Garrett College, where I had a great experience on and off the baseball diamond, under my old Head Coach, Eric Hallenbeck” said Coach Alfieri.
Always remember, as a pitcher, there is a reason why you are position #1 in the scorebook. You are the most important player on the field. If you don’t throw the ball, NO ONE PLAYS!
